Decontamination and back filling of two concrete pits. The scope of work included in the Decontamination of the two concrete pits was: • Dismantling and Removal of existing bridges, walkways and fiber piping system inside the two pits and all metal pipes and other solid wastes, metal dismantled parts delivered to MO material Department. • There was no access to the pits. ISC used a suitable crane to lift the equipment inside the pits. ISC fabricated and installed a suitable chute over existing product lines to pass demolished concrete, contaminated soil and clean soil for back filling from/to the inside of the pits area to. • Approx. 5,000 m3 of heavy sticky sludge which was mixed with sand and taken as contaminated soil volumes. • Demolition of concrete walls and bottom and disposed to municipal disposal area. 2. Excavation and mixing of contaminated soil below the pits to about 0.5 meter above the ground water table. • Collect base line samples and send for lab analysis, • Transfer of contaminated soil to treatment area. • Treatment of 70,000 m3 of contaminated soil taken in the treatment area using Bio-pile technology. • Back filling of the two cleaned and excavated pits with clean soil. • Conduct compaction for the backfilled areas and site cleaning.
